Construction Updates

Greetings!  The following notice was announced at church on Sunday, May 17, 2015.  It will be posted at Milton Post Office on Thursday morning.    

To our friends and neighbours,                        

Many of you have expressed an interest in what is happening with our church.  It is 150 years old and in need of serious repair. We have decided to move part of our present building, particularly the beautiful oak ceiling, to a new location on the present site.   The interior is presently being deconstructed to preserve the wainscoting, light fixtures and some of the altar work, to be used in the new church. When the excavation and cement pad are completed, the steeple will be removed in two stages, and the upper part of the church will be moved by two cranes in three stages to the new site.   We have found a new home for our pipe organ at the church in Sherbrooke Village, NS and we think we have found a new home for many of our pews.   A smaller single-storey church will be built around the existing shell.   Our main contractor is Clattco Construction, Liverpool.  We hope to worship in our new church before Christmas.   We will give you notice when the cranes are scheduled to move the upper part of the church and invite you to come and be part of a unique experience as our community faces many changes.   We would appreciate your prayers and support in this challenging and exciting new chapter for our congregation.
